THE LOST SCROLLS, MISS KITTY, AND THE PSYCHIC HOTLINE
Back in 1979, when we opened the doors to Conchy Joe’s Seafood Restaurant, most folks asked the same question: “What in the heck are these ‘consh’ things anyhow?” (Yes, they really talked like that.) Hardly anyone knew what conch was. But we didn’t mind. We were too busy sailing across the Gulf Stream, soaking up the sun, sipping rum, and dancing to reggae to care. It was all too good not to share—so we brought the best of the Bahamas home with us.

Robert W. Tolf, the respected restaurant critic for Florida Trend Magazine, once called us “pioneers in promoting Bahamian recipes and resources.” That meant a lot. We never thought of ourselves as pioneers, just people having a great time with good food, Miss Kitty, and maybe a little too much fun. But if that’s what being a pioneer looks like, we’ll take it. Thanks, Mr. Tolf.

Over the years, Conchy Joe’s has built a reputation for seafood with soul. We've been written up in everything from local papers to New York Times bestsellers. Our recipes have been requested by the likes of Gourmet and Bon Appétit. We’ve welcomed national TV crews, and in recent years, we’ve been proud recipients of Florida Trend Magazine’s Top 500 Restaurants award. There are more accolades than we can count—but honestly, that's not the point.

The real story? We’ve been pegging the fun meter for 40+ years.

Conchy Joe’s isn’t just a seafood restaurant. It’s where you come for advice that’s better than anything the Psychic Hotline can give. It’s a salty little slice of Old Florida, a hideout for Miami Dolphins cheerleaders, a place where legends are made (like when Betty Crocker ran out of lemons and discovered the magic of key limes). It’s the only joint in town that doesn’t claim to have invented the Bloomin’ Onion. It’s a watering hole, a hangout, a damn good place to eat—and, most of all, it’s an original.

THE BLOODY

Bloody Mary with 1 lb of Steamed Peel and Eat Shrimp, 12 Chilled Clams, 12 Oysters, 1 lb of Snow Crab Legs, 12 Cocktail Shrimp, 12 Conch Fritters, 2 Conch Sliders, 4oz Filet, 5oz Lobster Tail, 6 Jumbo Sea Scallops, 1 Kielbasa Sausage, Conch Ceviche

Now, if we must get serious (just for a moment—because this is supposed to be a history), here it is: Conchy Joe’s opened in 1979 along the Intracoastal Waterway in West Palm Beach, right where the legendary Hut drive-in once stood. We had 70 seats, 16 of them in a tiny bar that served only beer and wine. An American flag flew overhead on opening day—and it’s flown every day since.

Conchy’s was a hit from the start. The Preppy Handbook called us “the place to slum in Palm Beach,” PM Magazine broadcasted from our dining room, and The Palm Beach Daily News put us on their front page. Our laid-back Old Florida vibes and Bahamian-inspired menu struck a chord—and we’ve been playing that tune ever since.

So yes, we’re still here. Still cooking. Still dancing. Still original.
