"When the dog goes on point, the world goes still."
Every Bird Hunter Ever

The Caesar Guerini Revenant 20 gauge is a pinnacle of Italian shotgun craftsmanship, blending traditional aesthetics with cutting-edge technology. Introduced in the late 2010s, the Revenant was designed as an ultra-premium over/under shotgun, targeting discerning upland hunters and sporting enthusiasts who value both performance and artistry.

Built in collaboration with the Italian engraving house Bottega C. Giovanelli, the Revenant is instantly recognizable for its elegant sideplates, deeply sculpted floral scroll engraving, and hand-oiled Turkish walnut stock. Every detail—from the finely checkered wood to the swept-back Prince of Wales grip—reflects a commitment to old-world luxury.

Mechanically, the Revenant is built on Caesar Guerini’s proven over/under platform, incorporating features like the DTS (Dynamic Tuning System) for customizable handling, a Boss-style fore-end, and an action designed for strength and longevity. While it is available in both 20 and 28 gauge, the 20 gauge version is especially prized for its balance of lightweight agility and effective field performance. Though Caesar Guerini is a relatively young brand—founded in 2000—it has rapidly earned a reputation for producing high-end shotguns that rival century-old manufacturers, and the Revenant stands at the top of its lineup. As both a field gun and a collector’s piece, the Revenant 20 gauge exemplifies modern gunmaking excellence rooted in traditional Italian design.

Fine shotguns have long represented the ideal union of art and function. For over a century, some of the most iconic gunmakers have invested countless hours hand-sculpting steel, refining mechanical performance, and transforming rare walnut into exquisitely checkered stocks. Master engravers often spend weeks transforming polished metal surfaces into intricate works of art. These firearms represent the pinnacle of craftsmanship and artistic achievement in gunmaking—but for most hunters, they remain elusive, unattainable luxury items.

Caesar Guerini set out to change that paradigm. With the introduction of the Revenant, the company applied modern production technology and innovative engineering to create a shotgun that delivers the same level of beauty, refinement, and performance as bespoke firearms—yet at a fraction of the cost. The Revenant offers many of the same features found on handmade guns, while being available at nearly one-fifth the price.

At the heart of the Revenant is a sleek round-body action, known for its graceful curves. This is enhanced with fully radiused sideplates that elevate the flow and elegance of the design. The fore-end features a sculpted winged iron and an inletted escutcheon surrounding the push-button release—hallmarks of the finest guns. A long trigger guard blends seamlessly into a swept-back pistol grip, lending the Revenant a distinctive, racy silhouette. The barrels are fitted with a tapered solid top rib and a mid-rib, combining function with fine detailing.

To ensure the Revenant’s aesthetics matched its mechanical excellence, Caesar Guerini partnered with Bottega C. Giovanelli, a world leader in fine engraving. Under the direction of master engraver Dario Cortini, the Revenant received a bespoke engraving motif featuring organic forms—a departure from traditional scrollwork. Cortini’s vision took shape in flowing designs of maple leaves and branches, blending elegance with a distinctly upland hunting theme. The result is a shotgun that exemplifies modern craftsmanship while honoring the timeless artistry of traditional gunmaking.
