The New Ferrari 849 Testarosa
The new Ferrari 849 Testarossa is a 1,036 horsepower plug-in hybrid supercar that revives the legendary nameplate for 2026. It replaces the outgoing SF90 Stradale and incorporates advanced hybrid technology with design nods to Ferrari's past racing heritage.
Performance and powertrain
Plug-in hybrid system: The 849 Testarossa features an all-wheel-drive hybrid system derived from the SF90. It combines a reworked twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with three electric motors—two at the front for torque vectoring and one at the rear—to achieve its staggering power.
Engine output: The V8 engine alone produces 819 horsepower, which is 50 hp more than the SF90's V8. The three electric motors contribute an additional 217 hp, for a combined output of 1,036 hp.
Acceleration: The new Testarossa can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.3 seconds. Its top speed is over 200 mph.
All-electric mode: The car can operate in a short, pure-electric driving mode for about 16 miles.
Design and aerodynamics
Futuristic, retro-inspired styling: While it doesn't feature the iconic side strakes of the 1980s Testarossa, the design blends modern styling with elements inspired by classic Ferraris, including the 1970s 512 S race car.
Twin-tail rear: The rear features a split "twin-tail" design with an active, deployable rear spoiler for increased downforce.
Weight distribution: Extensive use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials helps the car maintain a similar dry weight to the SF90, despite the added hybrid components.
Interior and technology
Driver-focused cockpit: The interior prioritizes the driver, with a sleek, minimalist design that bucks the trend of large central touchscreens.
Digital displays: A large digital gauge cluster displays infotainment and vehicle information. A slim, integrated display for the passenger is also included.
Upgraded controls: The Testarossa brings back more physical controls, including a new "gated" shifter inspired by classic Ferrari manuals.
Improved feel: Ferrari specifically engineered the car to offer a more visceral driving experience than the SF90, with a louder V8 sound and a better, more responsive brake feel.
Available variants
Coupe and Spider: The 849 Testarossa is offered in both coupe (Berlinetta) and convertible (Spider) body styles. The Spider version features a retractable hardtop.
Assetto Fiorano package: For customers seeking an even more track-focused machine, the Assetto Fiorano package is available. It adds extra carbon fiber to reduce weight, features a stiffer suspension, and includes unique aerodynamic enhancements.
Pricing and availability
Pricing: European pricing starts at around €460,000 for the coupe, with U.S. pricing to be announced closer to the delivery date.
Delivery timeline: Deliveries of the coupe are expected to begin in the U.S. in mid-2026, with the Spider following a few months later.
