Sea Bags | Made in Maine
“She stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails.” — Elizabeth Edwards
Sea Bags begin their journey as sails—weathered by sun, salt, and sea—before being reborn as nautically inspired totes and accessories that spark joy in every adventure-lover.
Though each sail is thoroughly cleaned before transformation, it still carries the spirit of its former life. The marks of wind and water give every bag a one-of-a-kind story, making no two exactly alike.
Sea Bags sources its materials with deliberate care—starting in Maine, then throughout New England, and finally across the U.S. They partner with one of the country’s last remaining thread manufacturers and source rope from one of the few producers still operating in New England. As for their sails? Those are as local as it gets. Each one is collected individually through a trusted network of sailors and boaters who share a deep love for the coastal waters.
All Sea Bags are thoughtfully designed and hand-sewn in a building perched above the harbor on Portland’s historic Custom House Wharf. It’s an unconventional workspace—surrounded by the calls of seagulls and the scent of bait from nearby lobster boats—but it’s a place that infuses every bag with the character, grit, and soul of the working waterfront.
