Jalapeño-Infused Sauvignon Blanc

Jalapeño-Infused Sauvignon Blanc

What it is: A subtly spicy, aromatic wine infusion — perfect on its own, or as a base for spritzers and cocktails.

How to Make:

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle Sauvignon Blanc (ideally from New Zealand or California – crisp, citrusy, grassy styles work best)

  • 1–2 fresh jalapeños, sliced (remove seeds for less heat)

  • Optional: few sprigs of cilantro or basil for herbal complexity

Instructions:

  1. Pour wine into a large pitcher or decanter.

  2. Add sliced jalapeños.

  3. Infuse for 30 minutes to 2 hours, tasting every 30 minutes. Remove peppers when your desired spice level is reached.

  4. Chill and serve in wine glasses, optionally with citrus zest or a cucumber slice.

Flavor profile: Bright acidity of Sauvignon Blanc meets peppery heat and green notes — refreshing and bold.

🍸🔥 2. Spicy Sauvignon Blanc Spritz (Cocktail)

What it is: A light, effervescent cocktail that’s crisp, zesty, and a little fiery.

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz Sauvignon Blanc

  • 1 oz jalapeño simple syrup (see below)

  • ½ oz lime juice

  • 1 oz club soda or sparkling water

  • Ice

  • Jalapeño wheel or cucumber slice (for garnish)

Jalapeño Simple Syrup:

  • Simmer 1 cup water + 1 cup sugar + 1 sliced jalapeño (with seeds) for 10 minutes. Cool and strain.

Instructions:

  1. Fill a glass with ice.

  2. Add Sauvignon Blanc, syrup, and lime juice.

  3. Top with club soda. Stir gently.

  4. Garnish with a jalapeño ring or fresh herbs.

Optional Twist: Add a splash of tequila or gin for a stronger base.

🧪 Flavor Notes:

  • Sauvignon Blanc’s green, grassy, and citrus tones pair naturally with jalapeño’s vegetal heat.

  • Keep balance — too much spice can overwhelm the delicate wine.
